I purchased the Beauty Kubes conditioning hair mask online here from a store I've been loving recently called the Floral Fox. You can read my review of the Floral Fox store here. At the Floral Fox store you can purchase these conditioner cubes in either a 27 for £11.50 or a box of 3 for £1.75, so you could give them a trial run to make your mind up for yourself.
Beauty Kubes are owned by a parent company, Eve of St.Agnes, who decided they wanted to create a plastic-free, zero-waste range. All their products are handmade in Cornwall, and the facility is powered by green energy from solar and wind turbines. Beauty Kubes do a variety of different bath and shower products that come in small cubes.
Although on the box it states that the cubes are a conditioning hair mask, they work the same as and essentially are a conditioner. They could alternatively be used as a hair mask, either way, I guess. The cubes are plastic-free, palm oil-free and vegan- so very sustainable! The box arrived in a wrap that looked like plastic but was compostable.
On my first time using these, I stepped out of the shower to do so. I'd never used a product like this before, but the instructions on the box were easy to follow. If you do purchase these, I'd recommend looking over the instructions for yourself- not because it is particularly difficult but just because its quite a different conditioner process to just squeezing liquid out a plastic bottle. I picked out a cube from the box and crumbled it between my hands with some water. Once this became a thick mixture, I applied it onto my hair and used my fingers to comb it through. I immediately noticed I wanted to use another cube. I have mentioned this before in my other conditioner reviews, but I like to use a lot of conditioner, perhaps more than most? However, on the Floral Fox website, it does say that people with extra long or damaged hair may need to use two.
So far I'm quite satisfied with Beauty Kubes conditioner. In terms of results, I think it gives a similar effect to the Lush golden cap conditioner bar. They're not insanely conditioning, but they do an ok job. I've given Beauty Kubes 3.5/5 stars. It works okay, but it's not as good as some of the more unethical conditioners I've used previously. Also, unlike with the Lush conditioner bars I haven't had to do any DIY and the cubes are very simple and easy to use. On the downside, Beauty Kubes are slightly more expensive than the Lush bars, and they also won't feasible work with the Shrine drop it hair dyes. I'm not sure if I'd purchase these again, they're the sort of thing I would gift to a friend or family member who is interested maybe, especially the 3 cube trial pack! I would like to try other products from the Beauty Kubes brand, perhaps the shampoo cubes.
