Up Circle - Cleansing Face Balm Review

Updated: Aug 17, 2021

The UpCircle cleansing face balm is available from the UpCircle website here. However, if you're interested in purchasing you can get £10 off with my referral here!

UpCircle, like Bolt Beauty and Face Theory, are a sustainable cosmetic/skincare brand that I found advertised to me on either Instagram or Facebook.

When I discovered UpCircle I had already bought an excess of skincare products from Bolt Beauty and Face Theory. For this reason, I haven't done an UpCircle haul like I did with the other two brands. I didn't want to be wasteful and purchase products purely for the sake of reviewing them when I didn't them yet. However, I do have plans to try more products from UpCircle, and I will review those products at a later date! UpCircle are really interesting because one of their founding principles regards reducing food waste. Their skincare uses food products that would have otherwise been thrown away! They are an organic, natural and vegan brand. They use no SLS, SLES, palm oil, silicones, parabens, parfum or sulfates. Their packaging is majority plastic-free, and the packaging that isn't is refillable!

The Yellow UpCircle Cleansing Balm in an Orange Jar with a Black Lid, alongside the Orange cinnamon and chai soap bar

The cleansing face balm comes in this beautiful bright orange-yellow colour. This is what attracted me to it initially. It does have a slight scent. I usually try to avoid too many scented products but I really like how this cleaner smells. I know that sometimes certain people's skin can find fragrances irritating, so the scent is something to bear in mind. The jar comes super full; it is a very generous amount of product.

The balm is super easy to use. Just rub your fingers into the jar and the product begins to melt away. I then applied this to my skin in circular motions and it felt so good. Finally, I took it off using hot water and a reusable cotton pad. If I've worn makeup on a specific day, before using the balm, I will use my ditsy makeup remover cloth. The balm can be used as a makeup remover on its own, but I prefer to use the cloth first, so I don't have to use as much product or as many cotton pads. After using the balm, I follow up and double cleanse with the Bolt Beauty cleanser before doing the rest of my skincare routine. I love how this product leaves my skin feeling. I bought a bar of soap alongside the balm, but I won't review this in too much detail. The soap was lovely, nice to use and smelt great but it was out of my price range to be a regular soap bar that I'd use, it was definetely a luxury! I purchased the cinnamon and ginger chai scented bar for £4.99.

Overall, I'd give the UpCircle cleansing balm 5/5 stars! I will be rebuying this product, and it is an everyday part of my skincare routine now. I do recommend this product, but before buying it, I would just check that your skin will be okay with the slight scent and the exfoliant in the product from the powdered apricot stones. This product is neither expensive nor cheap, I couldn't decide between £££ or ££££, so I gave it in the middle?

If you have any other UpCircle products you'd like me to try or any suggestions for vegan plastic-free skincare, please do message me them on Instagram!
